SCORM Cloud

SCORM e-learning made easy

If you work with SCORM based e-learning, you may well have realised that the SCORM standard isn’t always, well, standard! (We’ve written more about SCORM here).

When SCORM works well, it is brilliant. But we’ve seen organisations spend many hours getting their SCORM content to run on their SCORM standard Learning Management Systems – a challenge that can tax the most technically-minded of learning and development professionals.

So we’ve done some research, and formed an association with a company called Rustici who provide a range of SCORM solutions, the most exciting at the moment being the SCORM Cloud.

This web-hosted solution allows you to run any SCORM-standard e-learning on any SCORM-standard Learning Management System, irrespective of the actual version of the standard used. It also allow your learners to view a range of other learning content (for example web pages) whilst being tracked back into your Learning Management System. The solution also gives you the power to do a range of other useful things, like send an email to invite learners to take a course, and then track the results.

The SCORM Cloud also changes the way you can work with providers of commercial e-learning content. These providers often want you to (a) buy a licence that covers all of your staff, even if only a few of them will need to complete the learning and/or (b) force your staff to log in to their learning platform (rather than your corporate one) to view the e-learning. This is all driven by the provider need to maintain control of the content and of their revenue. Using SCORM Cloud, your e-learning provider can maintain control of the content, track how many times the content is launched (and charge you appropriately) and also keep the content up to date, while you are able to track learner progress on your own Learning Management System and learners don’t have to log in to yet another system.

Rustici explain the benefits better, and in more detail, than we can so read more about the SCORM Cloud on their website, or contact us for a discussion about how we can source and implement technology to make your e-learning solutions work seemlessly for you.
