Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust
Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust employs around 2500 staff, their aim is to provide high quality community based health services for adults and children in Shropshire, Telford, Wrekin and surrounding areas. The organisation recognises the need to continually innovate in the way they deliver their services and in turn develop their workforce in order to support this.
The organisation currently uses both AT-Learning and the Oracle Learning Management (OLM) system to manage learning and development across the organisation, since both were in place when Shropshire County PCT and Telford and Wrekin PCT merged on the 1st July 2011 to form the current organisation.
AT-Learning is currently being used to host and deploy e-learning that has been developed locally, whilst e-learning from the Core Learning Unit (CLU) is accessed via the OLM. The organisation is in the process of rolling out access to CLU content across the organisation.
The organisation purchased Think…Architect in order to start developing local e-learning activities and to increase the availability of e-learning across the organisation.
To date the Information Officer within the Learning and Development team has been using Think…Architect and has developed the following activities: Infection Prevention and Control; Safeguarding Adults; Equality and Diversity; Syringe Driver; Palliative Care; and ‘e-KSF Training for Managers, Reviewers and Staff’.
Following a well publicised launch of activities, significant numbers of staff have completed the e-learning activities deployed within a short period of time.
Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust perceive the key benefit of Think…Architect as the simplicity of being able to create learning objects and package these with assessments to create e-learning activities. In addition, by using Think…Architect to create content, it has prompted the start of a wider roll out of e-learning across the organisation.
“Following the initial training provided by Think Associates, we have liaised directly with the Hunterstone technical team who have resolved any minor queries we have had quickly and efficiently. It’s been good to have direct access to the technical team, whilst having the ongoing support from Think Associates on our wider e-learning implementation.”
Next Steps
The organisation are currently evaluating both the Think…Architect and Lectora e-learning content development tools against their requirements to determine which tool will be used in the future for the development of local e-learning, however they would recommend Think…Architect to other NHS Clients.
